Install SHIBgreen

Thank you for your interest in our cryptocurrency. SHIBgreen runs on the PoST network (Proof of Space and Time). This means you can use repurposed hard drives and almost any type of PC to farm SHIBgreen. The PoST algorithm is different from the POW (Proof of Work) algorithm that uses a great deal of electricity and expensive equipment (GPU, Asic’s, etc.) to mine.

To get started you will need to acquire a usable computer and some hard drives. The more drive space the better. After you have successfully installed SHIBgreen you will need to create plot files to store on your hard drives. The plot files are what the farmer checks to see if you have won a reward. Plotting is done by using the plotter that is accessible from the GUI or CLI. Your plot files will be read on your hard drives by your farmer program that you have installed. This is how you will win blocks. The more plots you have the better chance you have at winning.

To install SHIBgreen, follow these instructions. Please make you choose the correct operating system. Also be aware SHIBgreen currently only supports 64-bit`` operating systems.

Make sure you save your mnemonic as they are created on your first installation. If you want to add your own keys it can be done with - shibgreen keys add. 

Creating plots can be done using the GUI or in CLI and as an alternative we actually recommend using Mad Max plotter. MMX can be found here https://github.com/MMX-World/mmx-plotter

Please consider opening your router port for 7442 so others can connect to you. Doing so can also help your connectivity as well as others. 

SHIBgreen can be farmed on many different types of machines. You can use anything from a Raspberry Pi 4 to a decked-out server. If you are a new farmer, we like to recommend starting with what you have available to you. This will keep your initial startup fees down, which is always a good thing.

Please note that because we are new during installation you will need to choose "More Info" and "Run Anyway" to be able to complete the installation. Some anti-virus application may see the file as a “false positive” and that is why you are being promoted with these choices. All blockchain files can be viewed and we encourage you to do so before installation.

Manual Mac installation is as follows. 

git clone https://github.com/BTCgreen-Network/shibgreen-blockchain.git -b latest

cd shibgreen-blockchain

sh install.sh

. ./activate

sh install-gui.sh

cd shibgreen-blockchain-gui

npm run electron &

* For installation of the GUI you will need to be running Ubuntu or a similar system to enable windowing.

Manual Linux installation as follows. This is for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. 

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade -y

* Install Git

sudo apt install git -y

* Checkout the source and install

git clone https://github.com/BTCgreen-Network/shibgreen-blockchain.git latest 

--recurse-submodules

cd  shibgreen -blockchain

sh install.sh

. ./activate

* For installation of the GUI you will need to be running Ubuntu or a similar system to enable windowing.

sh install-gui.sh

cd  shibgreen -blockchain-gui

npm run electron &

A Timelord can only be ran on Linux or WSL for windows. There is no Windows specific build. If you want to install and run a timelord please do so using the following commands.

. ./activate

sh install-timelord.sh

shibgreen start timelord
